CS4ALL is a program that aims to provide computer science literacy to all children in Brunswick. Additionally we will provide a space where children can learn at their own pace, have fun, help each other and encourage each other. By the end of this program participants will have some basic hands-on knowledge of how to write code and will have their own computer to use at home and in future club meetings. This program is open to all children age 8-12.
Unlike other similar programs all hardware is yours to keep!
The base cost for our CS4ALL Program is $600 per participant. For an additional $300 you can add a second CS4ALL Bundle to your registration (for parents). Please note that we will have some scholarship opportunities for this program available.
Each participant will receive a CS4ALL Bundle that includes
- A Pi-top CEED. This is a Raspberry Pi-powered all-in-one computer.
- A keyboard, mouse and Pi-Top CEED speaker add-on.
- An Arduino-compatible microcontroller + starter kit.
Additionally each participant will receive
- Access to eight two-hour CS4ALL Sessions (details below)
- A one-year membership to the Brunswick Hackerspace
- Access to our Minecraft Server
- Access to Slack (our internal communication system)
Schedule, Pace, Attendance
CS4ALL is comprised of eight sessions over a four-month period. The program is structured in such a way that each child can learn at their own pace. Staff and volunteers will be on-hand to encourage, guide and help children (and their parents) as-needed. Participants are not required to attend all of the sessions. You won’t “miss out” if you do miss a few sessions. Course materials will be available online both during and after the program. Parents and participants will be attending CS4ALL sessions together. Our current schedule of Sessions and our other events can be found on our Events page.
